Stella McCartney Fall 2011: Details

Monday, March 7, 2011
stella mccartney

An interesting juxtaposition of masculine and feminine elements by Stella McCartney for 2011. Body-con evening dresses with sheer panels sharply contrasted with the super-size cocoon shapes and wide suit jackets featured in the collection.

The designer seems to be playfully suggesting we will be alternating between these two extremes next season. Perhaps she's right.

I find maxi skirts to be a little boring but after having a look at these ladies and studying their styling prowess, draping them with a belt will definitely be considered!

Paul and Joe

A whimsical, girly collection from Paul and Joe designer Sophie Albou.
An utterly Parisienne take on bohemia chock full of printed minidresses, shrunken bombers, embroidered peasant blouses, and fluttery maxi skirts.

Antonio Marras Spring Summer 2011

I loved Antonio Marras' youthful take on the SS11 Romanticism trend.
Particularly the clash of graffiti-esque prints and geometric shapes. The collection of feminine pieces with sportswear accents is the perfect warm weather collection. Key looks: the safari jackets, red maxi dress, tshirts with sheer backs and the grey two piece with black detailing.

Proenza Schouler Spring Summer 2011

"The suit is the new rebellion" - Jack McCollough

Proenza Schouler designers presented a collection of juxtapositions for next Spring.
They used tweed, chiffon and lace while simultaneously showcasing their love of tie-dying prints and acid colour.
The result was fresh and modern yet elegant and ladylike at the same time.

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011

Cool styling, neutral basics and amazing military style outerwear are almost staples we expect from a Burberry show.

Christopher Bailey (a.k.a Genius) mixed it up this season with leather, belts with chains, neon accessories and snakeskin jackets.

I have a feeling this collection will be copied to death by the high street - come Spring little moto jackets will be the new shearling aviators.
